A lending B2B SaaS: entering Google AI Overviews from zero

An English-language lending-automation platform for banks and private lenders. Organic traffic in the niche was falling because of Google's AI blocks, so we moved visibility to where the decision is now made: AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini.

Anonymized case: the company name and domain are hidden under NDA.

The client is a low-code platform for the full lending cycle: origination (LOS), servicing (LMS), scoring, early risk warning and collections. Clients are banks, microfinance, leasing companies and high-ticket businesses launching their own installment plans.

The product is complex and the sales cycle runs for months. Buyers compare vendors for a long time — and increasingly do it by asking an AI: "top loan origination software", "best LMS for microfinance".

The site was cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, but not by Google AI Overviews — and those were exactly what took clicks from organic: for commercial "best … software" queries, a ready AI answer with a vendor list sat above the results.

What we did

1

Made the site readable for models

Allowed GPTBot and PerplexityBot indexing at the meta-tag level, added an llms.txt describing the products, lending types and implementation timelines.

2

Refreshed comparison content

"Top 10 Loan Origination Systems", "Top 10 Commercial Loan Software", "Top 7 Loan Management Software" updated for 2026 — these round-ups are exactly where AI assembles its vendor short-list.

3

Covered narrow prompts with landing pages

Dedicated pages for scenarios: HVAC financing, equipment financing, car title loans, PoS lending, leasing. For a narrow question the model cites a narrow page, not the homepage.

4

Answered buyer questions directly

FAQs on implementation time, security, trial access and scoring. Short factual answers are what AI Overviews pull into the block.

5

Measured per platform

Monthly citation snapshots in Ahrefs AI Responses split by Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot.

Citation dynamics

From March to July citations nearly doubled — from 77 to 142, and cited pages grew from 19 to 29. In September the total pulled back, but Google AI Overviews and AI Mode stayed: the site secured itself in a new channel.

Breakdown by AI platform

The visibility mix shifted toward Google. That matters for B2B: AI Overviews is seen by everyone searching for a vendor on Google, not only those already using ChatGPT.

Takeaways

In complex B2B software niches organic traffic is shrinking, and arguing with that is pointless. The winner is whoever the AI answer names in its vendor list.

We did not try to win back the clicks Google took. We made the brand appear inside the answer that took them.

The case also shows a limit: AI visibility fluctuates more than organic and must be maintained with content updates and regular per-platform monitoring.
